General Description and Objectives

This is a charity fund-raising event organized by friends of SMSS, Sheli Torrevillas and Joe Saley, supported by a number of corporations or businesses owned and/or employers of SMSS alumni and friends. Its inaugural is scheduled for March 29, 2008 in Sagada, Mountain Province, Philippines.

The objectives are: 1) promote health consciousness and help divert juvenile energy from addicting and/or criminality prone activities in Sagada and nearby communities; 2) generate funds towards the completion of a multi-purpose gymnasium at SMSS; 3) help SMSS continue dispensing affordable quality education to Igorots or indigenous hinterland folks in the Cordillera mountain ranges of Northern Philippines.

LHL Run/Walk Details

1. 8-km run, high school boys	SMSS Gymn towards Banga-an and back	7:00 AM	High school boys or graduating elementary school boys [13-17 years old]
2. 8-km run, high school girls	SMSS gymn towards Banga-an and back	7:00 AM	High school girls or graduating elementary school girls [13-17 years old]
3. 8-km run, men	SMSS gymn towards Banga-an and back	7:00 AM	18 years old and above alumni and friends
4. 8-km run, women	SMSS gymn towards Banga-an and back	7:00 AM	18 years old and above alumni and friends
5. 8-km walk, open	SMSS gymn towards Banga-an and back	7:15 AM	Any age; any sex alumni and friends
6. 3-km walk, kids and the elderly	SMSS gymn towards Banga-an and back	7:15 AM	12 years old and under kids; and 60 years old and above adults
Note: The center piece events of the run/walk festival are the high school events. The qualifying criteria is that a participant is already or will be a high school student. Thus, a 13 year old graduating from elementary or an 18 year old still in high school qualify for the high school events.
LHL Prizes: Will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event as follows:
8 km run, high school boys			Cash / Medals
8 km run, high school girls			Cash / Medals
8 km run, men			Cash / Medals
8 km run, women			Cash / Medals
8 km walk, open			Surprise Prizes / Medals
3 km walk, kids and the elderly			Surprise Prizes / Medals
Raffle Prizes: Desktop computer, tuition fee scholarships at SMSS or cash equivalent and many surprise prizes. Each runner/walker participant in all the events will receive a free raffle ticket and t-shirt. For non- participants interested in the raffle drawings, tickets will be sold at Pesos 400.00 or US$10.00 per ticket. Each participant will also be entitled to one raffle ticket for every Pesos 400 or US$10.00 worth of sponsorship he/she solicits. See: Sponsorship Scheme.
LHL Registration Fees:
High School Students / College Students			Pesos 10.00 per runner/walker
Gainfully employed participants			Pesos 400.00 [US10.00] per runner/walker
Kids			Pesos 5.00 per walker
