Dear Lambert/Chiqui,

1.Otto Energy through its Philippine subsidiary, NorAsian Energy, has fully paid its 150,000 peso commitment for 2008-2009.

2.Class 58 had fully paid its $3000 yearly commitments for 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.

3.Class 58 has no commitments for 2008-2009, but made a commitment for 2009-2010 and has already advanced around 28,000 pesos against its commitment for 2009-2010.

Have a good day.

Folks,

With the latest payments on "Sponsor A Faculty Chair" [SAFC] pledges, hereunder is the latest SAFC Pledges/Payments Update as per my notes. I would appreciate very much hearing any corrections, errors or omissions on the hereunder table presentation. Would like to hear in particular from Chiqui, manang Inez, current pledgers and new pledgers.

As I mentioned in an earlier email on this subject matter, the hereunder notes are only for planning or implementing follow ups and/or promotional efforts [including "Thank You" notes] towards helping realize the Faculty Chair Sponsorship Project of SMSS. This is also in consonance to our "open-to-the public" reporting of donations pledged/received.

Actual payments on the SAFC project are as reported by Chiqui [SMSSI Treasurer] and manang Inez SMSSAFF Treasurer].

Dear Dennis,

As I mentioned in my text message to Kym last Monday, I deposited a check for 150,000 pesos from the Nehemiah Project of Dan Chalmers in fulfillment of his 3-year commitment to the SMS faculty sponsorship program for school year 2008-2009. This is his second payment. Attached are copies of his letter to you and the deposit slip.

As requested, please have a receipt issued to the Nehemiah Project, which I can bring back with me to Manila after the SMSSI board meeting on Saturday.

Please note that four of my industry contacts who have made commitments to the faculty sponsorship program have already paid for this school year. These are Rick Crabb, Otto Energy, Kris Fellowes, and Dan Chalmers and are all from the energy indudry. Roger Casido, my friend from the mining industry, promised to give his check during the mine safety and environment conference next week in Baguio. These are also among the many supporters of the various golf tournaments for SMS.

These people are non-Igorots, non-Episcopalians, and non-SMS alumni, but they all share our vision for SMS and they are all impressed with what has been accomplished so far under your leadership.

See you on Saturday.

Rufino

Dear Chiqui,

Thanks for the info.

I am pleased to inform you that I just deposited today 150,000 pesos to the new account of SMSSI representing the second year personal contribution of Mr. Rick Grabb, Chairman of Otto Energy, an Australian oil and gas company exploring worldwide, but focusing on the Philippines.  This company wholly owns NorAsian Energy, of which I am Chairman, and which will also be sending its second 150,000 commitment to the SMS faculty sponsorship program in the next few days. As you have already acknowledged, Mr. Kris Fellowes of MEPS has already sent his second year contribution to the program.

As I have repeatedly stated, these people have nothing at stake whatsoever in SMS (i.e.they are not from Sagada and are neither Igorots nor Episcopalians), but they share our vision of making SMS a quality institution, as expressed in the attached letter from Rick.Crabb. I would therefore appreciate if SMS through Dennis can send the appropriate thank you letter to Rick Crabb and Kris Fellowes.

By copy of this email, I would also appreciate if the Presidents of SMSAA and SMSSAFF would send similar thank you letters, or emails, to Rick Crabb and Kris Fellowes. Rick's address is indicated in the attached letter while Kris Fellows can be emailed at kristofferfellowes@yahoo.com.au.

As Chairman of SMSSI, I have thanked them already, but I happen to work with them and I think it will be much better if their contributions are also appreciated by other SMS organizations.

Have a good day.

Rufino

In a message dated 9/13/2007 5:11:51 AM Eastern Daylight Time, rufinobomasang@yahoo.com writes:

Dear Everybody,

I am pleased to inform everybody that PETI Trading and Paramina Earth Technologies, Inc., two relatively small Philippine companies serving the mining, energy, and construction sectors, have decided to join together and sponsor one SMS faculty member for School Year 2007-2008. They said they will renew their commitment on a year-to-year basis, depending upon their financial performance.

What is unique about this sponsorship is that all the employees, regardless of position, after viewing my video presentation on Sagada and SMS, decided to contribute whatever amount they can willingly give so that they all participate in what they all agree is a worthy cause. The company will just take care of the balance to make it 150 thousand pesos a year. In other words, it is not just the company and its top officials, but the employees too, who have a social conscience.

Like Mr.Kris Fellowes of Middle East Petroleum Services (MEPS), who remitted 150 thousand to SMS last week to sponsor a faculty, the PETI/Paramina employees have no personal stake at all in SMS, did not benefit from an SMS education, are all non-Episcopalians, and are all non-Igorots with no relatives in Sagada and/or SMS.

The same thing is true with Mr. Dan Chalmers, the son of an American Baptist minister who has has been in the Philippines since the early 1950s. Dan has lived in Masbate and studied in a local public school and is now Chairman of the Board of Brent International School Manila. He was in fact the the first one to respond to my call in 2005 for donations for the renovation and  rehabilitation of the physical facilities of SMS. This was immediately followed by the SMS alumni, mainly those based in the US. Last month, Dan pledged to sponsor an SMS faculty member the next three years.

Please join me in thanking Messrs Fellowes, Chalmers, and Resabal for what they and the institutions they represent have done and will continue to do to provide quality education for Igorots, particularly by helping SMS. You may want to email them at their respective addresses: kris@mepsltd.com, danc@pmrgroup.com, and psresabal@peti.com.ph, with copies to the rest of the yahoogroups members.

Matago-tago kayet nan SMS.
