Manong Rufino and all:

I just got through talking to my mother who is in Baguio. She is very excited about the changes in St. Mary's School. "Gawi-gawis", she says.  In addition, she said "Gawis si Dennis Faustino. Talaga ay kaneg na iyaleg ay anan-ak na nan studente". She likes the idea of getting a weekly update every Friday.

With such observation from my mother, I'm sure that folks from outside the town will hear about it and soon enrolment will increase. Is the plan then to have dormitories/living quarters be available for faculty members and students the next school year? If the cost to renovate the Stapleton Hall is about 200K pesos, that's about $3,650. Using Manong Norman's strategy, one person can donate that. With two people, it's $1,825 each. With 10 people, it's $356 each. With 20 people, it's $182.50 each. With 30 people, that's $122. I think this is doable.

The SMSSFFA has a Dormitory Funding Assistance Committee chaired and co-chaired by Stone Pooten and Manong Manuel Ano, respectively. Nan members yo et si Edong Montero, Tom Belingon, Neston Yodong, Manong Lambert Sagalla, Edwin Abeya, Philip Lacbawan (Philip, ay member ka isnan St. Mary's email group?), Manong Norman Killip, Manong Raymond Alipit, Manong Caesar Castro, Manong Remegio Kawi, Manong George Gayagay, and Edwin Baniaga.

I've stayed in the Boys Dorm from 7th grade to fourth year while I was studying in Sagada. I learned to live (and fight) with fellow dormitorians who were from other places. We ate together, prayed together, studied together, cleaned our living spaces together..We did everything together! Well, almost. No phase in my life could compare to the highs and lows of my dorm life. And of course, serenading in the Girls dorm was one of the highs.

So let's start raising funds for the dormitory. I enjoin especially the dormitorians (boys and girls) to take the lead on this. Mia and I pledge $150 for this project. Manang Inez, please add another line in your chart of accounts for Dormitory Funding.
