The endowment fund rose sharply in
school years 1995-'96 and 1996-'97 due to budget allocation. Why was this not
sustained? Was the disappearance of the budget allocation a result of the PEC
becoming independent from ECUSA?

The biggest contributors to the
endowment fund from 1991 to March 30, 2000 were the teachers. And yet their
starting salaries are way below their Public School counterparts. Of the
P627,687.71 total endowment fund, the teachers accounted for P272,819.09 or a
hefty 43%. Are these teachers' pledges mandatory? If it is, it is no wonder
the quality of education in SMS has been compromised. The teachers have to
scrounge for other sources of livelihood. This situation is a strong argument
for the "Teachers Salary Equalization Fund Drive".

Foundation generated funds came from
only one source - AY Foundation. Foundation generated funds is one source that
we should all explore for the SMS Endowment Fund.
