It was a sort of in gathering festival for the Sydney Australia Alumni and Friends  of SMS chapter  at the lake side Parramatta after the church service on the 14th Oct. for a reception lunch and fellowship with  their  guests and to beat the gongs for SMS, collecting their  pledge / donations.  Atty Floyd and  Fr. Brent came at the invitation of the Anglican Board of Mission while their respective spouse, Marcy and Shirley,  came along for holiday in Sydney and to visit their friends and kins.  The Alumni and Friends of SMS  were then notified to bring their donations to be collected.    It worked!.  A few did not come but sent  in their donations, some paid their arears or their whole year pledge.  Virgie Calang-ad Boland, treasurer, in her report,  has collected a record figure of A$1490 that would add to the previous remittance in June  $1527.00 to complete 2007-2008  faculty sponsorship.  Further pledge collections will then roll for 2008-2009 if they can make it.

The SMS Alumni members are  few so they   depend on Friends of SMS  who are the siblings, children of Alumni and anyone who shares the vision to provide quality education to the less privileged children in the Cordillera through SMS to come  on board to pledge $10.00 a month  more or less is greatly appreciated.  One new friend-member who just joined in June is Rose Alkemade in Melbourne. Since they do not gather bi-monthly as they  used to, a  SMS depository bank account  was opened to facilitate collections of pledges/donations especially those outside Sydney and to send text or email to Virgie to check.  Details of the account here below:

The SMSS Alumni and Friends in Sydney, Australia  has to date [Feb 24, 2007] remitted $3,300.00 directly to SMSSI for the Physical Education Faculty Chair. This means that the Physical Education Faculty Salary for year 2006-2007  has been fully sponsored and fully paid[$3,000.00]; and fully sponsored sponsored, partially paid [$300.00] for year 2007-2008 by the SMSS Alumni and friends, Sydney, Australia Group. We understand that there are more SMSS friends than alumni in Sydney. Thank you so much SMSS friends. I am quite sure that most of you are related somehow or will soon be related by marriage [of your anak, apo or kabagyan] to an SMSS alumni, anak, apo or kabagyan. The facultry chair is Physical Education and we started June 2006. To date, our treasurer remitted previously A$1800 throgh Mel Longid, $1500, and Ms. Dominga Anosan $300.00. Total $3300 which may cover the thirteenth salary.

We try to continue this 2007-2008 if we can. Thank you, George
