SELECTED WRITE-UPS / COMMENTS ON THE JUNE 17-19 SMSSAFF MEETING AT SIERRA MIA, WEST VIRGINIA

1. "A Diary...June 17-20, 2005 @ Sierrra Mia, West Virginia"

I was up and running at 7:00AM Sunday, and I was trying to think what would be the alliterative title for this most wonderful event and all I could come  up with was "stupendous, stupendous, stupendous", and that's exactly what it was.!!!.

We arrived at Ed and Mia's mountain lodge, late into the night, since I did have to drive from NH and me and Bobby McGee( my trusty SUV) made good time barreling down HWY 95 to NJ ( the traffic at the GWB was horrendous) cut us back precious hours. But we finally headed down south, destinatiion . . .Sierra Mila. Where everything becomes existential after that....

Is it because we come from Sagada, or that we come from the same learning institution St. Mary's School? there is that certain kindred, of belonging, that we are one special species of this universe who can truly relate with one another... Camaraderie is one thing, but there is that wonderful quality that I can't really put a finger on. It all makes the reason why St. Mary's School must go on!!!Saturday was a blast, it started with a wonderful breakfast, it was truly unbelievable, the table was overflowing with delicious treats... pastry, fruit, fish, rice, tons of coffee...likewise lunch was just as fulfilling, we gormandized.

The meeting did finally come to order and all things considered there was fruition. Which isn't in my bailiwick to tell...

Saturday night was the culmination of anticipation!!! Dinner was goumet in every essence of the word....followed by live intertainment. Beats Las Vegas as far as I'm concerned. It was almost bacchanalian, but only in a literal sense, I have never laughed so much in my life.... these young ones can really put on a show, but not to mention that the senior "citizens" are just as capable telling such risque jokes. We filled the West Virginia skies with songs, the sound of gongs , of laughter , into the wee hours of somnolent space called night!

Sunday morning coming down... there is a time for everything. St.Mary's School imbued in us religious responsibility. And that is what we did," we gathered together to ask the Lord's blessing", it was wholesome, it was spiritual and it was personally fulfilling. And as we bid goodbye to one another, I know in my heart that everyone left with a happy feeling, we are a token family after all!

Dear Everyone,

That was a great meeting, reunion, and spiritual communion!. Sierra Mia (which by the way means 'mountain of mine or my mountain') is truly blessed to have been the host to the second historic USSMS Alumni meeting. It is a home we could all call our own and certainly come home to over and over again. Even though the house was limited in some ways, you made it work because of your can-do attitude. You truly made it a family reunion. Thanks to one and all for making the affair possible and wonderfully enriching. We had most of all, a fruitful meeting - our next challenge is to follow up and work toward the initial $40K goal.

More power to all and may your tribe increase!

Dear Folks:

I would like to extend my personal thanks to Lambert Sagalla,Edwin Abeya  and Lita Killip for their assistance as Lectors during the Mornng Prayer Service and of course Audrey Longid Gulian who relieved me at the KeyBoard.  I truly felt the presence of God in our midst and remembered our years  in SMS when  we had Morning Prayers everyday  before  classes started at 8:00 A.M.

It has been a life-fulfilling and satisfying combination for me as  a  Physician and  at the same time involved in  Spiritual Healing  and hope to continue according to His Plan. PEACE!!!

Well done again, Lambert!  Beautiful pictures!  What transpired  behind these pictures are even more important, memorable and lasting.  You  continue to be a  busy KING BEE.  The busiest people are usually the producers and you are one. Be patient.  You will be rewarded accordingly  in some ways only God knows.

Good day all,
Congratulations to you all who were at the Sierra Mia SMSSAFF meeting. Looking at the pictures and  reading the e-mails stare me in the face as if to say "naatiw kayo kasin". Yes, wish we were there with you too. Getty, thanks for your diary, I am reliving it. It was good to see those in the pictures...although I have to admit I can not name them all. It was good Lambert named them. Thanks for sharing the activity with us...kanega nawada kami gedan.

Thanks also to Dr. John, I have printed his homily and will continue to read it time and again. Well thought of. That is our challenge.

Lambert,

It looks like you had a great and wonderful meeting at Sierra Mia. You certainly all look good in the pictures. I wish I were there, but I am pleased anyway that Rhoda was there to represent SMSSI. I am also very pleased that Mary Zabala was there to represent those in the West Coast.
